Is it really dead?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Ever since Nas came out with "Hip Hop is dead", people have actually believing it. People seem to be forgetting Hip Hop is about evolution and self expression. We cant expect people living in this world and time to rap about what NWO and WU Tang Clan rapped about. For those who listen to Hip Hop for the lyrics and not to do the "Bird Walk", we have some relief. You seem to be forgetting people like

Jay-Z
Lupe Fiasco
Q-Tip
Common
Fabolous
Ludacris {Listen to his new cd, "Theatre Of The Mind" and youll see}

Hip Hop is changing. We cant expect it to stay the same or for people to think the same way because wed get tired of it. And what would we do without hip hop. Soulja Boy did not single handely destroy hip hop, he had a hand in it but it started way before he came. STarted with that ringtone and napster shit.

Hip Hop is obviously not dead if Soulja Boy is filthy rich from his garbage songs. When people like Soulja Boy cant make money and people like Lupe cant make money, thats when Hip Hops dead.

The 'N' Word

c

I'm not black, but I do see the repercussions of this word. Some people can use it freely and be ok. Others use it and get sued, lose their jobs or worse. But for anyone to understand what this word used to mean and what it means now, we gotta start from the beginning.

Nigga comes from the word nigger, which comes from the word Niger which is latin for "Black" as in the color. It can be an insult or a greeting, depending on the context and sadly to say, to skin color. Some people ask why I say this, well for the simple fact we should all have the same rights to say anything we want and if one race gets punishment for saying something, all the other races should be penalized too. If this can't be done, then why try to make a crusade against it. (Yes, I said crusade. Sorry to all those really religious people). I remember when Don Imus said those things about those black girls from the basketball team. Sure he was wrong in saying it, no doubt about it but, if a black person said it, I'm sure he would'nt have been punished to that extent.

One of the principles that the civil rights movements based their beliefs on, is equality for all, saying the black man and the white man should be treated equally. Isn't different punishment for the same thing based on race totally the opposite of what Martin Luther King said and preached? I've seen white kids get slapped for saying 'nigga'. Wasn't used in a derogatory way. He was saying hi to a black kid and BOOM, smacked right across the face, just because he's white.
If using this kind of language is a way for different races to band together then let it be. I'm sick and tired of preachers like Al Sharpton making a living off the publics sentiment. Him being a preacher, he should know better.

The word nigger is not gonna be eradicate it. I think of it like a major religion or a large gang. There is a habitat and right conditions for it to grow. "Black people say it all the time", they do and thats why others think it's ok. I love when rappers say OTHER artists need to clean up their lyrics and videos and don't get me wrong, we've come along way from the likes of Tip Drill but if a rapper goes platinum, and he says nigga in every song, that means 1,000,000 people are gonna hear it, plus people from the radio and illegal downloads. How are people supposed to know it's bad? How do people plan to stop it.

I say, if society itself if obviously not ready to stop using the word nigga, embrace it or keep it in and get ulcers.

We have a black president, it's time for change.

STOP remembering.

people normally tell you "forgive and forget". it's easy when they don't know the situation. even if you don't believe it humans have an instinct to help others. that phrase has become so common it's crazy. the smallest thing can scar you and others look at you like "what a wus". who's worse? a person who killed another or a person that stole a slice of bread from another? you hear situations and normally you put yourself in that place. empathy. put yourself in anothers shoes. we judge others as if we know everything about them and everything about their lives that shaped them into who they are now. if a person can't forgive and forget, maybe it's because they can't. nobody likes to walk around with a huge weight on their back.

What the fuck?

I admit this is kind of funny, but why in the world would you do this for 500?
